1. 鼓掌（以示赞赏）
    When a group of people applaud, they clap their hands in order to show approval, for example when they have enjoyed a play or concert.

    e.g. The audience laughed and applauded...
           观众边笑边鼓掌。
    e.g. Every person stood to applaud his unforgettable act of courage.
           所有人起立为他不可磨灭的英勇之举鼓掌。

2. 称赞；赞许
    When an attitude or action is ap-plauded, people praise it.

applaud什么意思

    e.g. He should be applauded for his courage...
           他的勇气值得称道。
    e.g. This last move can only be applauded...
           最后这招令人拍手叫绝。
