1. （使）保持平衡；（使）平稳
    If you balance something somewhere, or if it balances there, it remains steady and does not fall.

    e.g. I balanced on the ledge...
           我在窗台上站稳。
    e.g. He balanced a football on his head.
           他将一只足球稳稳地顶在头上。

2. 平衡能力
    Balance is the ability to remain steady when you are standing up.

    e.g. The medicines you are currently taking could be affecting your balance.

3. 使（力量、重要性等）相等；使均衡；使持平
    If you balance one thing with something different, each of the things has the same strength or importance.

    e.g. Balance spicy dishes with mild ones...

    e.g. The state has got to find some way to balance these two needs...
