1. 构成威胁的人(或事物);祸根
    A threat to a person or thing is a danger that something unpleasant might happen to them. A threat is also the cause of this danger.

    e.g. Some couples see single women as a threat to their relationships...

    e.g. The Hurricane Center warns people not to take the threat of tropical storms lightly...

2. 威胁;恐吓
    A threat is a statement by someone that they will do something unpleasant, especially if you do not do what they want.

    e.g. He may be forced to carry out his threat to resign...
           他也许会被迫把自己的辞职威胁付诸行动。
    e.g. The priest remains in hiding after threats by former officials of the ousted dictatorship...
           受到被驱逐下台的独裁政府官员的威胁后，那个牧师一直藏匿不出。

3. 受到威胁
    If a person or thing is under threat, there is a danger that something unpleasant might be done to them, or that they might cease to exist.

    e.g. His position as leader will be under threat at a party congress due next month...
           在定于下月举行的党代表大会上，他的领导地位将受到威胁。
    e.g. She lives daily under threat of violence...
           她每天都生活在暴力威胁之下。
