1. 刺;叮;蜇
    If a plant, animal, or insect stings you, a sharp part of it, usually covered with poison, is pushed into your skin so that you feel a sharp pain.

    e.g. The nettles stung their legs...
           荨麻扎了他们的腿。
    e.g. I jumped as if I had been stung by a scorpion...
           我像被蝎子蜇了似的跳了起来。

2. (昆虫、动物的)螫刺，螫针，刺
    The sting of an insect or animal is the part that stings you.

    e.g. Remove the bee sting with tweezers.
           用镊子拔掉蜜蜂的螫刺。

3. 刺伤;叮伤;蜇痛
    If you feel a sting, you feel a sharp pain in your skin or other part of your body.

    e.g. This won't hurt — you will just feel a little sting.
           这不痛——你只会感觉到像被轻轻叮了一下。

4. (使)感到刺痛;(使)感到灼痛
    If a part of your body stings, or if a substance stings it, you feel a sharp pain there.

    e.g. His cheeks were stinging from the icy wind...
           刺骨的寒风吹得他脸颊生疼。
    e.g. Never put any essential oils near the eyes. They are very strong and could sting...
           千万不要将任何精油抹到眼睛周围。它们有很强的刺激性，可能会使眼睛产生刺痛感。

5. (言谈)刺痛，刺伤，惹恼
    If someone's remarks sting you, they make you feel hurt and annoyed.

    e.g. He's a sensitive lad and some of the criticism has stung him...
           他是个敏感的小伙子，有些批评刺痛了他。
    e.g. She burst into tears, stung by the harshness of his words.
           他那番严厉无情的话让她伤心得大哭起来。
