    1. 草稿;草案;草图
        A draft is an early version of a letter, book, or speech.

        e.g. I rewrote his rough draft, which was published under my name...

    2. 起草;草拟
        When you draft a letter, book, or speech, you write the first version of it.

        e.g. He drafted a standard letter to the editors...

        e.g. The legislation was drafted by House Democrats.
               法律由众议院民主党草拟。

    3. 征召…入伍
        If you are drafted, you are ordered to serve in the armed forces, usually for a limited period of time.

        e.g. During the Second World War, he was drafted into the US Army...
               二战期间,他应征加入了美国陆军。
        e.g. He wasn't drafted for the war; he volunteered for the Navy.

    4. 选派;抽调;派遣
        If people are drafted into a place, they are moved there to do a particular job.

        e.g. Extra police have been drafted into the town after the violence...

        e.g. The manager will make a special plea to draft the player into his squad as a replacement.
               主教练将特别要求抽调这位运动员到他的队里做替补。

    5. (通常指短期的)征兵,征召
        The draft is the practice of ordering people to serve in the armed forces, usually for a limited period of time.
