1. 补偿(或赔偿)金
    Compensation is money that someone who has experienced loss or suffering claims from the person or organization responsible, or from the state.

    e.g. He received one year's salary as compensation for loss of office...
           他得到一年的工资作为失业补偿金。
    e.g. There should be compensation for British farmers hit by the slump in demand...
           应该给受到需求锐减影响的英国农民提供补偿金。

2. (对不利事情的)补偿
    If something is some compensation for something bad that has happened, it makes you feel better.
